Remnants Book Review and Giveaway

New Release....

All that remains are whispers of the past…

When multiple body parts are recovered from the Little Ogeechee River in Savannah, Georgia, local law enforcement calls in FBI agent and profiler Brandon Fisher and his team to investigate. But with the remains pointing to three separate victims, this isn’t proving to be an open-and-shut case.

With no quick means of identifying the victims, building a profile of this serial killer is proving more challenging than usual. How is the killer picking these victims? Why are their limbs being severed and bodies mutilated? And what is it about them that is triggering this killer to murder?

The questions compound as the body count continues to rise, and when a torso painted blue and missing its heart is found, the case takes an even darker turn. But this is only the beginning, and these new leads draw the FBI into a creepy psychological nightmare. One thing is clear, though: the killing isn’t going to stop until they figure it all out. And they are running out of time…

My thoughts:

Wow! This book hooked me from the very beginning and didn't let go. With body parts washing ashore the FBI team need to find a killer in a hurry. Due to the sudden trip out of town several Valentine's Day plans are ruined, and the profilers have to try to solve a case while dealing with their own personal issues.

This book is gritty, sometimes almost gross, with plot twists that will keep you guessing for hours. Every new body part that shows up gives them another glimpse into the killer's mind, but it also uncovers a new victim. Will they ever find the killer?

Truly, Madly, Whiskey Book Review and Giveaway

NEW RELEASE........

A new, emotionally riveting, sexy standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster. Watch mysteriously sexy Bear Whiskey claw his way to his happily ever after with sassy, rebellious Crystal Moon.

In TRULY, MADLY, WHISKEY…
Eight months is a long damn time to have the hots for a woman who keeps a guy at arm’s length. But Crystal Moon is no ordinary woman. She’s a sinfully sexy, sass-mouthed badass, and the subject of Bear Whiskey’s midnight fantasies. She’s also one of his closest friends.

Just when Crystal thinks she has her life under control, scorching-hot, possessive, aggressive, and fiercely loyal Bear pushes all her sexual buttons, relentless in his pursuit to make her his.

The more Bear pushes, the hotter their passion burns, unearthing memories for Crystal that are best kept buried. But there’s no stopping the collision of her past and present, catapulting the two lovers down an emotionally charged road that has them questioning all they thought they knew about themselves.

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

My thoughts:

Bear is my new favorite man! Seriously! I adore this man and want to hang out with him.

Bear Whiskey is a biker who runs several businesses for his family, often putting aside his own wants because it's family. He's been after Crystal for months, making her more and more comfortable with him, but she always keeps him at arm's length. She's happy to be friends but anything else is off the table.

Crystal is slowly getting her life back under control, but her past is haunting her and driving a huge wedge between her and Bear. But Bear is as patient (and pushy) as he is kind, and he soon has Crystal in his arms. But will they find their happily ever after? Or will Crystal's family and history get in the way? Can Bear have the love that he wants and the work life that he deserves?

This book can definitely be read as a standalone book, but I promise that you'll enjoy Tru Blue (and learn more about the characters) if you read it first!

Into the Air Book Review and Giveaway

Like everyone else in the world, Mia Bryn lives in the dark. Buried in an underground compound, her life is spent in brief allotments of florescent light and dwindling food supplies. But when a letter arrives, Mia and her father are invited to embark on a journey that no one else has been allowed to take for over a hundred years. They are asked to leave the ground and travel into the air. But the outside world is more surprising and dangerous than Mia could have ever imagined. To survive, she must trust her instincts, learn about a world she knows nothing about, and accept her destiny.

My thoughts:

I really enjoy dystopian novels, and my eldest loves them too. So I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read this book!

Mia has lived her life underground, but her history is definitely darker than the people around her. Her mother was taken and her sister killed when she was younger, and her father moved her to a different compound. However, her father is given the opportunity to visit the Academy, and Mia pushes to be able to go above ground with him. However, upon their arrival their situation becomes her worst nightmare, and Mia is left to survive on her own.

While Mia is struggling to survive, she's being hunted by a multitude of creatures and guards, because of a secret that even she doesn't know. Can she survive to help change the world?

I really enjoyed this book, although I do think that it's more graphic (and more terrifying) than I would expect for a YA novel.

Available to buy from....

“Downing’s Into The Air is that fresh take on the YA post-apocalyptic vision we’ve all been waiting for. Mia Bryn is a wonderful character—one who starts out charmingly mortal but soon becomes the heroine we, and her people, need her to be. Can’t wait for the next Mia chapter!”
Bruce McAllister, Author of the Cybils-nominated The Village Sang to the Sea: A Memoir of Magic

“There’s a new star in the Young Adult firmament—A. K. Downing’s series, beginning with Into The Air, is sure to be a reader favorite right up there with The Hunger Games and The 100 trilogy.”
Richard Snodgrass , Author of There’s Something in the Back Yard

WHAT IF YOU ENTERED A WORLD YOU DIDN'T KNOW

IN Pursuit Book Review and Giveaway

NEW RELEASE....

The hunt is on…but who’s the one being pursued?

A serial killer is terrorizing San Antonio, and the method of murder is beyond macabre. As Ivy Nash is pulled into the case by her police detective friend, Stan, there appears to be one intersecting point between the victims—Ivy herself.

Meanwhile, Ivy and her new organization, ECHO, take on a case for a run-away teen whose parents have disappeared. Was it self-imposed, or is something more nefarious going on?

Moving at a break-neck pace, the parallel trails to stop the killer and to find the missing parents seem both murky and crystal clear. But just as Ivy believes the end is near, past transgressions are slammed in her face—and nothing will be the same.

A man wants retribution. And he’ll even saw off his own leg if it means Ivy will suffer.

My thoughts:

John Mefford has done is again! The suspense in his novels in intense, and this one made me hold my breath for a big chunk of it.

Ivy has had a horrendous past, and she's working as hard as she can to help others from having the same problems. Her company ECHO is struggling, and she takes on a case that's not her typical job.

However, while she's trying to help the runaway teen someone is torturing and killing people who know her. Can Stan and Ivy discover who is behind the murders before it destroys everyone in her life?

"Rife with deceit and deception and characters that leap off the page, this story is told with confidence through a sure hand, engaging both the mind and the heart. A compelling treat." -- Steve Berry, New York Times Bestselling Author

"I love the way that Mefford writes, seamlessly jumping between characters and time frames with no confusion, and he is extremely descriptive of the setting . You almost feel like you are watching a movie instead of reading a book!" -- Hilary Mahoney, Elusive Red Tiger

"Mefford wrote her character with depth and you can feel her passion for her job throughout the entire book." -- Shelly Maynard, Lynchburg Mama

Q&A with author John W. Mefford:
Q: What do the Ivy Nash Thrillers have to do with the Redemption Thriller Series?

JWM: The Ivy Nash Thrillers comprise the second sub-series in the Redemption Thriller Series. The Alex Troutt Thrillers are the first sub-series. While I'll eventually write a series that connects the major characters and plots from all the sub-series, you don't have to read the AT books prior to the IN books. But I have to say, the AT thrillers are darn good.

Q: So you're saying you don't have to read the Alex Troutt Thrillers before the Ivy Nash Thrillers?

JWM: Nope. While a few of the characters might occasionally overlap between the series, they can be read as stand-alone. And then I'll wrap everything up in a final set of six novels that connects all of the main characters and stories from each sub-series. If you haven't read any of the Alex Troutt thrillers yet, you can try out the first three at a pretty nice discount. Just search for Alex Troutt Box Set.

Q: Can you give some insight into how Ivy Nash might connect to Alex Troutt down the line?

JWM: Sure…and then I'll send over a hit squad. Seriously, I'll be sprinkling in a few clues along the way for those who pay close attention to the details, but it will all come together in that final six novels of the Redemption Thriller Series. And it will be explosive and gut-wrenching at the same time.

Q: How many different sub-series are you planning to have in the Redemption Thriller Series?

JWM: Right now, I see four sub-series in the Redemption Thriller Series, with six novels in each. It's the most challenging and fulfilling creative endeavor I've undertaken. I hope you enjoy the journey.

About the Author
A veteran of the corporate wars, former journalist, and true studier of human and social behavior, best-selling author John W. Mefford has been writing novels since he first entered the work force twenty-five years ago, although he never put words on paper until late 2009.

John writes novels full of intrigue, suspense, and thrills, but they also evoke an emotional connection with the characters.

When he’s not writing, he chases three kids around, slaves away in the yard, reads, takes in as many sports as time allows, watches all sorts of movies, and continues to make mental notes of people and societies across the land.

John lives in Frisco, Texas with his beautiful wife, three opinionated kids, and a feisty fat cat who rules the world.

Whisper of Love Book Review and Giveaway

NEW RELEASE........
Tempest Braden adores her family and her small hometown, but sometimes too much of a good thing can be confining. At almost thirty, having watched most of her siblings find true love, she’s anxious to experience her own happily ever after, and the move to Pleasant Hill, Maryland, is just the change she needs. When she rents a room from ruggedly handsome, and closed-off, artist Nash Morgan and his adorable son, Phillip, she thinks she’s found a little slice of heaven on the outskirts of town, where she can concentrate on building her business. That is, if she can ignore the undeniable heat between her and the sinfully hot single father.

When Nash bought his farmette, he had one goal in mind—to provide a loving, stable home for his son. He never imagined he’d be raising Phillip alone, or renting out a room to keep their heads above water. Then again, he never imagined losing his brother, or spending two years sailing around the world with parents who seemed to forget one son was still alive.

Sparks fly from the moment Tempest moves in, and her positive energy and inquisitive nature brings new life into Nash and Phillip’s quiet, confined world. For the first time in years, Nash wants to let a woman into his world, but while his loss made him stronger, that strength came at a price, leaving him walled off and wary of opening his heart again.

WHISPER OF LOVE is part of the Love in Bloom series. While this can be read as a stand-alone novel, for even more reading enjoyment you may want to read the entire Love in Bloom series in series order.

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

My thoughts:

Tempest has moved to a new town for a fresh start, but living with her cousin is leaving her sleep deprived and unable to live her life. She looks for a place of her own, and rents a room from Nash and his small son Phillip.

Nash is a gruff, secretive man who will do literally anything for his son. They've never been apart, and they can spend a whole day communicating without saying a word to each other. Their love for each other is palpable, but Tempest points out that Phillip isn't learning to socialize or play with others. And Nash has pushed off his love of sculpting to be an amazing father.

Can Tempe's sunny disposition and love of life bring Nash and Phillip out of their shells?

I absolutely adore this pair, and I wish that I could hang out with them for a day (or a week, or a month!). Their artistic abilities are amazing, and the love and healing that they spread to others is inspiring!
